Singer Loomis butchers National Anthem at live third-party presidential debate, Internet calls it 'awful'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Loomis butchered her rendition of the National Anthem during a Free & Equal Presidential Debate between three third-party presidential nominees in Los Angeles on Wednesday, October 23.
The indie singer's voice cracked midway through the National Anthem, which she did in acapella as she belted out "and the rockets red glare" before claiming she was distracted, reported the New York Post.

Loomis butchers National Anthem at third-party presidential debate
Loomis was invited to sing the 'Star-Spangled Banner' in front of candidates Chase Oliver (Libertarian Party), Dr Jill Stein (Green Party), and Randall Terry (Constitution Party) when her performance went haywire.
During the live telecast, she said, "I f**ked it up, I f**ked it up, can I go back please?"
Loomis was then told by the broadcast staff off-stage that they were livestreaming and couldn't go back which made her continue singing.

She continued, "The bombs bursting in the air" but stopped again before adding, "I got too nervous."
However, despite the disaster, she received a round of applause from people around the stage as she walked off looking confused as to where to go.
The debate co-moderator Christina Tobin applauded Loomis and said, "Thank you, Loomis, that was beautiful, appreciate you coming here tonight."
Loomis clarifies what happened during butchered National Anthem performance
Loomis tried to what exactly happened during her butchered National Anthem performance. She told TMZ, "I really do sing and I am really a good singer. So what had happened was I didn’t know it was live."
The indie singer claimed she only had one day before the debate to practice and added that it was the "scariest thing she ever did."
She said, "When we got to the spot and then I got nervous and then I was scared, but it was crazy."

Loomis added, "Since I was a little girl, I always said I don’t want to sing the national anthem, it’s like the scariest thing to me ever because everyone’s all standing up so serious everyone’s all quiet."
She went on to explain to the outlet, "It’s so standard and everyone’s so quiet and so serious. It’s not like your own show when you get to be yourself or express yourself. It’s like you’re putting on for the whole nation, and it’s a scary thing."
