LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Soccer stars Kristie Mewis and Samantha Kerr announced they are expecting their first child together. The couple's heartwarming news, however, has been overshadowed by a wave of homophobic and hateful messages online.

Mewis, who is carrying the child, recently made the move from the National Women's Soccer League in the US to West Ham United in the UK last December. The announcement comes just a year after Mewis and Kerr got engaged in 2023, marking a beautiful new chapter in their lives together despite the challenges they face.
