Joe Scarborough says Trump 'tripling down on fascist rhetoric' despite claims he never read 'Mein Kampf'

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: After former President Donald Trump was “attacked for echoing Hitler,” he clarified that he has never read ‘Mein Kampf,’ reported The New York Times.

MSNBC’s ‘Morning Joe’ dedicated a small part of their segment to the claim made by Trump, and host Joe Scarborough had a lot to say about the same.

In the segment, Scarborough focused on Trump's "fascist Hitler-like rhetoric" whilst also briefly talking about Ivana Trump's interview from the 90s.

Mika Brzezinski calls out Trump's 'fascist language' 

On ‘Morning Joe', host Mika Brzezinski said, “Former President Trump continues to use fascist language that dehumanizes immigrants. Here's what he said last night in Iowa.”

MSNBC then played a clip of Trump's Iowa speech where he said about immigrants, “We have no idea who any of them are.” He also repeatedly said, “They are destroying the blood of our country.”

Broadcaster Mike Barnicle also joined Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough on ‘Morning Joe’ and Scarborough addressed him after the clip of Trump ended.

Scarborough said, “Mike Barnacle, I have always found it just surprising whenever you bring up comparisons, with what Donald Trump said and what fascist leaders in the past have said, everybody with their white gloves trying to play by a different set of rules saying you can't talk about that."

He added, “You can't bring up the fact that Donald Trump talks like a fascist or Mussolini or Hitler. When you go back and see what Hitler said about vermin and the need to destroy vermin or what Hitler said about poisoning the blood of our country. The comparisons are, the parallels are shocking...they are shocking.”

Joe Scarborough brings up Ivana Trump’s interview

Scarborough noted that Trump’s claim of not having read ‘Mein Kampf’ brought Ivanka Trump's 1990 Vanity Fair interview back in focus, where she claimed Trump kept speeches of Adolf Hitler by his bedside.

Scarborough then joked, “If you ask Mika, she’d say, Joe will keep sometimes Faulkner, devotional biographies of Paul McCartney, Churchill books, etc. Randomly, Donald Trump kept a collection of Hitler speeches by his bedside, said his first wife.”

He added, “And so maybe he did read it, but he kept a collection of Hitler speeches by his bed, according to his first wife. You can hear it in his words. You can see it at his rallies. That's exactly the direction he's going. He's doubling, tripling down on fascist Hitler-like rhetoric.”
