WASHINGTON, DC: A recent video of DC US Attorney Matthew Graves from the third anniversary of the January 6 Capitol Attack has been circulating on social media. Graves talked about the details of January 6 in his address, and Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene shared her remarks on one particular part of his speech.

In this part, Graves shared an “important note” for those who stayed “outside the building” on the day of the attack. As Greene shared her remarks on Graves’ statement, she also wrote, “If only my GOP colleagues cared to help me stop this,” and the internet was quick to respond to the same.

Marjorie Taylor Greene says DOJ is ‘going to prosecute innocent people’

On X, formerly known as Twitter, Marjorie Taylor Greene reposted a clip of Matthew Graves that was originally captioned, “DC U.S. Attorney Matthew Graves is making clear that the DOJ is now going to target Americans who were around the Capitol on J6 but did not enter the building.”

In the clip, Graves said, “An important note when it comes out our prosecutions outside the building. We have used our prosecutorial discretion to primarily focus on those who enter the building or those who engaged in violent or corrupt conduct on Capitol grounds.”

Graves added, “But if a person knowingly entered a restricted area without authorization, they have already committed a federal crime.”

To this, Greene responded, “They are going to prosecute innocent people that didn’t even go in the Capitol, who had no idea about any lines they crossed on Capitol grounds that the American taxpayers pay for, while not prosecuting over 60% of daily crime in DC.”

She added, “These are the ‘defenders’ of democracy. If only my GOP colleagues cared to help me stop this.”

"Stop trying to profit off of J6. You’ve been cancelled by MAGA and Republicans," wrote a third person, and another added, "Your 15 minutes will eventually be up, until then, there will remain a proverbial asterisk * next to your name as congresswoman (I feel [vomit emoji] just typing that)."

Greene continued to face backlash on the social media platform as one user wrote, "MTG is a gaslighter," and another said, "You are so annoying trying to rewrite history."
