Liam Payne fell to death while attempting to escape Buenos Aires hotel using balcony, claims source

BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA: Former One Direction star Liam Payne was attempting to flee his hotel in Argentina when he fell to his death, according to witnesses, the police report, a 911 call, and surveillance footage.

Sources revealed to TMZ that the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires knew he was threatening to use the balcony as a means of escape but they left him alone.

CCTV footage of the former One Direction singer's tragic last moments recently went viral online. The singer's photos, taken just before he died, went viral online and sparked much discussion about the ongoing investigation into his tragic death.

According to sources with direct knowledge who spoke to TMZ, Payne previously used the balcony escape plan, most recently in mid-September.

The late singer detested being confined to hotel rooms, a situation he encountered while he was a member of the boy band.

Payne's bodyguard dragged him into a room in a rental home in Florida because he was worried that the singer might be high. He jumped off a balcony and landed on the ground using a garden hose, per the outlet.

Hotel staff left a highly drugged Liam Payne alone in room from where he fell to his death

According to the Daily Mail, the singer appeared to be being carried by three men, presumably hotel employees, out of the Buenos Aires hotel lobby. It is said that the singer looks 'unconscious' in the pictures.

The heartbreaking photo was taken from CCTV footage captured inside the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, where Payne was staying when he died on October 16.

High on drugs, Payne seems to have been picked up by the three hotel staff members; one witness claimed that he had been "convulsing" on the lobby floor. The elevator returned him to his suite on the third floor.

However, the hotel staff put Payne inside the room using a master key, and the police report obtained states that they took a mirror off the wall right outside his room, probably to prevent him from damaging it.

One employee called 911 minutes later, expressing concern that Payne might use the balcony and inadvertently hurt himself, indicating that Payne made it clear to the staff that he did not want to be in the room and would use it as an escape route.

The 911 transcript stated that the hotel staff member said, "I don't know whether his life may be in danger. He is in a room with a balcony, and, well, we're a little afraid ..."

Thus, Payne was left alone in the room by the hotel staff, and from where he died from the fall. Payne had a bag attached around his shoulder when his body was found, which was not on him when he was being carried from the lobby, indicating that he was attempting to escape via the balcony.

The former One Direction singer appeared to have been attempting to ascend from the third-floor balcony to the second-floor balcony before leaping a short distance to the ground.

According to the police report, two days after Payne's death, a hotel employee went to the room on the second floor directly below Payne's and found a brown leather bag — not the one strapped to his shoulder — on the balcony.

The bag had a note that read "for Liam," several pills, and a bottle of Jack Daniel's, which further bolstered the escape theory.

According to the report, the bag belonged to Payne who most likely dropped it on the balcony on the second floor before trying to drop himself down.

According to the coroner, Payne might have been unconscious when he fell, but he was definitely conscious when he went to the balcony and strapped the bag to his shoulder inside his room.

Fans divided over Liam Payne's hotel balcony escape theory

Several fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their annoyance over the Argentine hotel as one said, "So this was a tragic accident preventable by hotel & not suicide! Horrible!!!"

A second added, "It couldn’t have been the drug prescriber or drug dealer’s fault, of course. Must be the hotel’s fault."

"That was obvious as staff locked him in his room as he kept going down to reception & making a scene. He should never have been left alone in that room in the state he was in, or the balcony door should have been locked until a doctor arrived," said one.

Others asserted that it was not the hotel's responsibility to look after the late singer's actions as one said, "Why is hotel to blame? They're not orderlies, and as tragic as it is, they're not responsible for his mental state."

Another remarked, "Sorry but this isn’t the hotel’s responsibility. The hotel did the right they called emergency services. It’s not up to employees to babysit guests that take drugs."

"Its not the hotel’s responsibility to babysit him. If it wasn’t at that hotel it would’ve been another," one said in part.
