Cher fans divided over Dua Lipa's tribute to pop icon at Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony
CLEVELAND, OHIO: Dua Lipa paid tribute to pop icon Cher as she performed the 1998 hit song 'Believe' live at the 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Cleveland on Saturday, October 19.
The pop icon also performed a rendition of her 1989 hit song 'If I Could Turn Back Time' after she was introduced by 'Euphoria' actress Zendaya, per the Daily Mail.

Dua Lipa pays tribute to Cher at Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony
Dua Lipa initially began the performance alone wearing a floating, leather cutout dress, before Cher joined her in a leather dress with thigh-high boots, per Metro.
The crowd at the Rocket Mortgage Field House went berzerk as the pop icon joined Lipa onstage and started singing the lyrics to one of her most-loved tracks.
The two singing icons held hands and sang, but fans couldn’t get past Lipa's vocal performance as some thought she was "struggling" with the tone of the track which didn’t appear to suit her voice.
Dua Lipa's tribute to Cher came after their alleged rift in 2022 over a social media post. A fan shared a side-by-side picture of Dua Lip and Cher on X with the caption "Dua Lipa, our generation's Cher." Interestingly, the pop icon herself commented on the post, "How many yrs are in a generation" with a thinking emoji.

Cher inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
While inducting Cher into the Hall of Fame, Zendaya told the crowd, "Where do I even begin? There is not one person in this room, in this country, and pretty much in the whole world who doesn’t know who I’m here to honor tonight. So iconic, she only needs one name.… She does it all and, may I add, really f****ng well."
Cher joked during her speech about her overdue induction and how she said in 2023 that she would refuse the honor if it was offered to her. She said, "It was easier getting divorced from two men than it was to get into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame."
The pop legend added, "I want to thank my guardian David Geffen, because yeah, he wrote a letter and sent it to the directors and so… ha ha, here I am. The one thing I have never done, is I never give up."
She went on to say, "And I am talking to the women, OK… we have been down and out, but we keep striving, and we keep going and we are somebody. We are special."
